Meet Dr Candace Mabbitt (PMHNP-BC)
Candace is a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with over a decade of experience in midwifery. She seamlessly integrates a midwifery philosophy into her psychiatric practice, approaching her clients with compassionate curiosity and striving to understand each individual’s unique life circumstances and aspirations. Her practice is grounded in trauma-informed, evidence-based care, viewed through a reproductive justice lens.
Candace offers general and reproductive psychiatry services to individuals aged 14 and older. Her clinical interests center on hormonal transitions throughout the lifespan and their impact on mental health, addressing cyclical changes such as premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD), as well as perinatal and postpartum shifts, and adjustments related to peri- and post-menopause. Additionally, she has experience working with individuals suffering from autoimmune conditions and chronic pain, recognizing their implications for daily life and mental health.
In addition to her clinical work, Candace serves as an educator, preceptor, and mentor for nursing and midwifery students, as well as family practice residents. She holds an adjunct faculty position at both Georgetown University and Bellevue College.
A Message From Candace:
“After spending years hearing women express, “you’re the first person who has listened to me in [insert x amount of ghastly years],” I decided to go back to school for additional training in Psychiatry. I care about you AND your wonderful brain! I know finding the best treatment can be confusing and scary. I offer a gentle and compassionate approach to care, that focuses on informing you of your choices and supporting and empowering you through life’s many transitions.”
